Five to six months of consistent full-time study from a standing start. Here's what that time actually goes on.
Short answer
Roughly the first third goes to language fundamentals and problem-solving, the phase that feels slowest and matters most. The middle third is the stack itself: backend framework, frontend, databases, assembling a real application. The final third is projects, interview preparation and mocks.
That last third is what self-taught learners most often skip and most often fail on. Building an application and clearing a hiring loop are different skills.
Data structures and algorithms account for more of the timeline than anything else, because interviews weight it most heavily and it can't be crammed. Pattern recognition develops through repeated exposure over months, which is why our program runs coding challenges continuously rather than as a module at the end.
This is also why eight-week claims don't hold up. You can teach someone to build a working web application in eight weeks; you cannot get them through a DSA round in that time.
Some factors genuinely shift the number:
You can learn to build applications in three months. Reaching the standard that clears a fresher hiring loop typically takes five to six. Programs advertising three months are measuring the first and marketing the second.
Roughly twice as long: ten to twelve months of consistent evening and weekend study. The main risk isn't the calendar, it's sustaining that for a year without a cohort.
No. Our students come from a wide range of engineering and non-engineering backgrounds. A CS degree shortens the fundamentals phase; it doesn't determine the outcome.
For a full-time program, class hours plus two to three hours of independent practice. Consistency matters more than the total: an hour daily beats seven hours on Sunday.
